Walnut Creek State Park is on land that was home to the Creek and
Osage Indians. The park, built in 1966, rests on 1,429 acres and is located on
Lake Keystone. It offers swimming beaches, lighted and unlighted boat ramps,
softball field, playground areas, comfort stations - some with showers, picnic
tables, group picnic shelter, semi-modern RV sites with water and electric
hookups and regular camp sites. Hikers, mountain bikers and equestrian
enthusiasts will enjoy the 17-mile Sand Plum Trail which features flat to
rolling terrain with many vistas of the lake. The park also offers an equestrian
campground with electrical hookups, water, picnic tables, grills, picket posts
and a comfort station.
Location:
4 miles west of New Prue on the northern shore of Lake
Keystone, northwest of Sand Springs.
Hours & Days of Operation: Park
Office: 8am - 2pm, Monday - Friday, year round. Campgrounds open year round
except Area #1 which closes from Nov. 1st to May 1st.
