Sportsman Lake
Seminole County, 5 miles S of
Seminole, OK
354 acres
Shoreline: 15 miles
405-257-3600

| Five miles east
of Seminole, Sportsman's Lake is a favorite for both fishing
and horse trail riding.
The quiet greenish waters are a fisherman's paradise.
Bass and catfish are favored game fish here, with an
abundance of large and small-mouth bass, sand bass and
Kentucky Bass. The lake also has an abundance of crappie.
Swimming is not allowed in the lake and boats are limited
to six miles per hour because boat wakes are prohibited. But
the atmosphere is perfect for an afternoon of fishing along
15 miles of marshes and rocky shorelines around the lake.
Provided that they obey the no-wake policy, boaters can make
their way around 354 surface acres of water.
The lake also features a covered bridge and three docks
perfect for fishing or boarding a boat for an afternoon in
the water. Boats can be unloaded at any of the six concrete
ramps.
The lake's extensive equestrian trails are a close rival
to its appeal as a fishing lake. One of the lake's four cove
areas is exclusively dedicated to horse camping. For $3 per
day, visitors can bring horses in to ride through miles of
trail that weave through the wooded countryside adjacent to
the lake. Even experienced riders can spend an entire day
navigating the trails around the lake.
The lake is highly accessible for those who are
physically disabled. The lake features a handicap-accessible
dock and even special ramps for climbing on the back of a
horse.
Camping is available with water and electricity at any of
36 campsites. |
