Handmade affordable jewelry...made in Oklahoma
The Maverick Rose Jewelry company was founded by designer, Linda Fisher. She was
inspired and empowered by a story of an incredible woman from Old West lore.
“They called her ‘The Maverick Rose.’ She could shoot a rifle as well as
any man and then plow the back forty before supper. She became a legend in her
own time from the stories the towns folks spread about the single mother who
could take on anything and still have time to read a bedtime story. She lived
her life and raised her kids to stand up for their beliefs and to never let
injustice go unchallenged. The name fit her because she lived the life of a
maverick but could also be compassionate and as delicate as a rose.” We
have southwest jewelry, pendants, bracelets, belts, earrings, charms and
more. Items for the cowgirls and horse lovers

Free trade with China is (not so slowly) putting the American Craftsman and Artists out of business. China can reproduce American crafts and art for about 1/32 of the price it costs the americans for supplies. CRAFTERS, please keep crafting for the love of it. The Smithsonian Museum gift shop in Washington D.C. sells Chinese quilt reproductions of famous American quilts. Are your congressmen and senators allowing this?
Tip - Personalize your crafts in anyway you can. If you can put a "saying" or "name" on it at the time of the sale, it will be harder for China to duplicate
Stamping Trick - To make scented embossing powders... Mix 1 tsp. of Carpet Fresh with 4 Tablespoons of embossing powder. It blends well and is not noticed after being heated.
Valentine Molded Potpourri - Colored potpourri (without wood shavings), white glue, cooking spray, plastic heart mold. - Crush potpourri finely. Mix in white glue until potpourri is well coated. Spray mold with cooking spray. Fill with potpourri. Cover with plastic wrap and use your hand to pack tightly. Microwave 2 minutes. Cool completely and knock out of mold. Accent with flowers, ribbons, or lace.
Quilting Tip - Get large clean pizza boxes from your local pizza shop and store blocks of quilts you have in progress. This allows you to keep the large blocks in good shape with no folds in the material.
Care and Cleaning of Antiques - PEWTER- Dip #0000 Steel wool in olive oil and very gently scour off tarnish. Wash with mild soapsuds and hot water. Rinse until there's no more soap film and then buff with a soft cloth. Pewter will stay untarnished longer if kept in a glass case.
CANDLE HOLDERS - To clean off wax, put the holder in the freezer for about an hour, long enough for the dipped on wax to freeze. Take out of the freezer and break or peel the wax off.
Also freezing candles that drip before burning will stop dripping.
WOOD FURNITURE - Restore dried out furniture by dapping petroleum jelly on a soft cloth and polishing the item. This will help feed and restore the dry wood. To remove water and other marks, rub peanut butter into the mark and leave it overnight. Next day, wipe off the peanut butter and the mark should be gone. You can also use, butter, mayonnaise or petroleum jelly. To help prevent water marks, apply floor wax and quickly rub it in. To prevent scratches, attach felt to the bottoms of all knick-knacks.
Decorating with Quilts - Drape over a deacon's bench, wooden pew or chair * Fold and stack on footstools * Fold across the bottom of your bed * Hang on the wall * Drape over the sofa * Place folded quilts in a large basket and put by the fireplace, bed, or sofa * Drape over the stair way landing or balcony
