THROUGHOUT THE YEARS, the nation has lost millions of acres of virgin land to development. We have made room for an ever increasing human population. The loss of habitat is the major factor limiting wildlife populations. Without proper habitat, wildlife populations decline. The National Quail Association believe proper wildlife habitat (food and cover) together with landowner-sportsman cooperation and involvement is the key to future wildlife populations.

EVERY HOUR, roughly 320 acres of agricultural land are converted to non-farm uses in the United States. Each year, that amounts to 3 million acres or more--the equivalent of a 1.5 mile wide piece of land reaching from California to New York. Every day, four square miles--or 2,560 acres--of the nation's prime farm land are shifted to uses other than agriculture, according to the recently published National Agricultural Lands Study commissioned by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the President's Council on Environmental Quality.

THE NATIONAL QUAIL ASSOCIATION is a national organization formed to encourage and help individuals plant habitat beneficial to quail and other wildlife. As an educational non-profit organization we will provide the technical know-how to members wanting to improve and develop proper habitat for quail. Whether it be one acre or 20 we will help members improve it for a maximum quail population.

THE NQA encourages the wise use of all our natural resources and supports all wildlife laws of the land. The NQA encourages the highest standards of sportsmanship and landowners-sportsman cooperation and the understanding for the betterment of wildlife and the environment.

THE NQA was formed by a group of far-sighted conservationists and incorporated by them in November of 1978 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as a nonprofit organization. The NQA is exempt from Federal Income Tax under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Membership fees go back to members in seeds, plants, literature, newsletters and services.

THE NATIONAL QUAIL ASSOCIATION CAN HELP YOU BY......

1. Assisting you in finding areas where food plots can be planted to attract quail. 2. Provide advice on how to plant food plots, where to plant and when. 3. Furnish you with data on seeds for food and plants for cover. 4. Provide see to members who wish to plant food plots. (type and amount of seed will vary from year to year)

MEMBERS WILL RECEIVE:

1. A newsletter, Covey Talk, is published in the spring and fall of each year. This newsletter provides information on hunting seasons for area states, regulations, fees, areas opened and closed, habitat planting information that covers grains, shrubs, trees and grasses beneficial to quail. 2. A membership card to identify you as a supported of wildlife. 3. A three color decal for your vehicle. 4. A bird-dog registration service to help in recovering a lost dog. 5. Out of state hunting services when requested.

Individual membership is $15 per year and it's tax deductible. Individual annual sponsor membership is $500 per year and an Annual Corporate Sponsor is $1,000 or more per year.

As an individual member actively working to improve the habitat you will benefit in many ways, a sense of accomplishment, more quail in your area, a better relationship with local landowners and hopefully you'll have more places to hunt.
