Place offers canoe trips year round.
The Illinois may be floated anytime the weather and the river is favorable. The upper portion ofthe Illinois River above Peyton's Place is the fastest moving water. We shuttle you, the canoes and equipment to the starting point - you float into Peyton's Place or - we set the equipment, etc. in at Peyton's Place and pick you up below. We furnish U.S. approved Coast Guard life vests, also litter bags for float trips. There is a $250.00 Fine for littering the Illinois River. Bathing suits, shorts, etc., may be worn but a cover-up should be used to prevent sunburn. Canvas shoes should be worn. Canoe instructions will be given upon request. |
Items of value (cameras, fishing
gear, etc.) should not be taken on the float if you are inexperienced.
Eye glasses should be anchored with cord or rubber bands. We will
hold car keys for you.
If you wish to float more than one day, you will need to carry camp gear and groceries with you. Reservations for Saturday (or Sunday) floating during May, June, July or August should be made as far in advance as possible for group floats. We offer camping for customers floating with Peyton's Place. Our beach is the finest and cleanest on the Illinois River for swimming and picnicking. Oldest Canoe Camp on the Illinois River Float the most secenic part of the river located right on the river. Float back to your car. |
Group Lodging & Cabins Peyton's Place offers a variety of lodging. What a great getaway, come and stay on the banks of the beautiful Illinois River. Reservations should definitely be made in advance for your favorite days. We offer air conditioned cottages with kitchenettes for couples or small families. A beautiful new group lodge for larger gatherings. Lodge includes 48 beds, meeting room, kitchen, fireplace, etc. all on the banks fo the beautiful scenic river. Cold weather "No Problem" enjoy the fireplace and the eagles that nest on the bluff in winter. We are not responsible for accidents or injuries. Float at your own risk.

The Illinois River is a free-flowing river. It is not a controlled environment. There could at times be some danger involved.

Glass & styrofoam containers are prohibited on the river. These type of containers can lead to a fine up to $250.00
