ATV riding at Lake Murray State Park in Southern Oklahoma. Take Hwy 35 to Ardmore, OK. Exit on Hwy. 70 going East. Travel approximately 5 miles. Turn right at the road with a statue of a golden colored horse. Take the first turn to the right. Lot's of trails for hours and hours of ATV action! The Pear Orchard Motorcycle Use Area, on the northwest side of the lake, was developed by the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department for motorcycles and ATVs. About ten miles of marked trails cross grassland, forest and rolling hills.

The Pear Orchard Motorcycle Use Area is on the northwest side of picturesque Lake Murray.
LOCATION: 4 miles E of I-35 (2 miles E of the park entrance) off SH-70.
SURFACE: Marked trails cross grassland, forest and rolling hills.
RIDING AREA: 1,000 acres
ALTITUDE GAIN: Elevation changes from 750-820 ft.
COST: $7 per day per rider. For safety reasons, dune buggies, jeeps and trucks are not allowed.

Lake Murray History- Lake Murray was built by the WPA back in the 1930's close to Ardmore, Oklahoma.  It was the first major lake impounded in Oklahoma and contains largemouth, spotted and smallmouth bass.  The lake is noted for yielding large numbers of smallmouth in the 2-3 pound class and has given up smallmouth over 5 pounds. With 5,700 acres of crystal clear waters and beautiful surrounding landscape it offers outdoor enthusiasts a wide variety of activities. The state park encompasses over 12, 000 acres and is operated by the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Departments and is one of the state's most popular attractions.

The closest major airport is DFW airport north of Dallas,  an air strip in the state park for small planes, also north of park 5 miles is the Ardmore Executive airport.
