Little Sahara State Park

Open 24 hours a day year-round, this 1520 acre sand playground has plenty to offer you, including 25 to 75 foot dunes. There is an area of flat sand for those sand-draggin' times, as well as a special trail that encompasses the area offering plenty of scenic views, including the Glass Mountains. In fact, this area has some locations with cottonwood groves and trails branching out through them. As with any sand area, in the heat of the summer it is best to stay clear because it gets too hot. There is a $7 dollar a day dune access fee and camping is encouraged.

Little Sahara State Park is located in NW Oklahoma, 4 miles south of Waynoka on Hwy. 281. Little Sahara offers the perfect "oasis" for off-road vehicle enthusiasts with 1,450 acres of rideable sand dunes ranging in height from 25 to 75 feet. The dunes were created over 11,000 years ago from terrace deposits and well-sorted quartz left by the Cimarron River when it flowed across this area during the Pleistocene Age. This makes for extremely fine quartz sand. Each year nearly 100,000 off-road vehicle enthusiasts visit the park. For those who want to stay and play, picnic and camping facilities are available, and seasonal concession stands provide refreshment. The Park offers 3 reservable picnic shelters seating up to 80 people. There are 139 non-assigned campsites in two campgrounds with comfort stations and showers; 42 semi-modern sites (electrical and water) with a dump station for RVs; and 97 unimproved sites in the two campgrounds for tents. Alabaster Caverns State Park, Boiling Springs State Park, Great Salt Plains State Park, and the scenic Glass Mountains are within driving distance .

Campgrounds are open year-round, 24 hours a day; Park office hours are 8am - 5pm, year round.

A yard is right outside the back door, so it is great for watching the children play or for a relaxing picnic or barbeque. lighting allows for evening activities.  Gas stove/oven, dishwasher and refrigerator  provide the comforts of home. There is even a washer and dryer available if you choose to pack less clothing and do some laundry during your stay.   Pots, pans, bowls, baking pans, dishes, cutting board, utensils, cups, glasses, coffee pot, toaster, blender and microwave oven are provided to make cooking a meal a snap.
