Oklahoma Choctaw Indian and Nature Artist Jessie Ghere Feather with Scrimshaw, Ink, and Oils

At a very early age I formed a deep attachment to animals, wildlife and nature and developed the ability to capture them in all forms of artistic presentations. A graduate of Oklahoma State University, with a degree in Math and minors in Science and Music, I discovered right away that although my profession was teaching, my passion was in art.

A self-taught, naturally talented artist, I paint nature as I see, feel and have experienced it. Being a professional artist for over 40 years, I draw on my love for the “out of doors” to capture nature with Oils, Pencil, Pastel, Pen & Ink, Sculpture and the very unique art of Scrimshaw.

I have won many awards over the years and exhibit my work mainly from my studio in Sapulpa as well as in Art Shows like South Oklahoma City Community College show called Festival of the Arts. Some of the other shows in which I have exhibited are: Nescatunga Arts Festival in Alva, Ponca City Arts Festival, Fairview Arts Festival, Texas Indian Market and S.W. Showcase in Arlington, Texas, Operation Wildlife (OWL) in Kansas City, Denver Indian Art Market, and Tulsa Indian Art Festival. My work can be found in private collections across the United States and in Europe.

My husband, Gil Feather, and I are recovering from the loss of everything to a house/studio fire in August of 2000. The artwork I have now has all been produced since February of 2002. Those of you who are collectors of my work will find a whole new selection to choose from.
