Carrie Underwood received special recognition from
Governor Brad Henry at the Capitol on Wednesday August 10, 2005.
The governor presented the singer with a replica of one of several new
highway signs that honor her. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is
setting up four roadside signs showing Checotah as Carrie's hometown.
Carrie: "I’m so proud to come from some place like this. I know that this
will always be my home. I have the best family in the world, I have the
best friends in the world, and this is where the best people in the world
are.” Carrie and other American Idol contestants appeared live in
concert Wednesday night at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman. |

under his belt. For years, he has been a storyteller and given many
